Sara Niño
Sara is a Training and Technical Assistance Associate at EDC and doctoral candidate at UMass Boston in the Urban Education, Leadership, and Policy Studies program. At UMass Boston, her research centers on linguistic justice and the voice and representation of multilingual families in education policy. Her experience as a K-12 and adult learning educator includes specialized training in social-emotional, inclusive, anti-racist, and culturally and linguistically sustaining practices. Sara’s background also includes work as a language-, disability-, and family engagement policy specialist at the state and local levels. She has coordinated and developed resources and professional learning for early intervention, early childhood education, and K-12 programs and services. As a scholar-practitioner, Sara anchors her research within an ethic of care that centers on the lived experiences of people, challenges systemic inequities, and facilitates spaces that support productive dialogue and collective healing.
